While JFK airport has its own parking facilities, booking with ParkOn can get you a better price at one of the seven off-site, independent parking lots located within a few miles of the terminals.

Of these seven lots, six are open 24/7, and all provide a shuttle service as well as valet parking.

The shuttle schedules vary from lot to lot, so be sure to investigate this when making your booking. Many will offer baggage assistance, too, so look out for this if it’s something you require.

Airpark JFK, Budget Airport Parking, and Orom Airport Parking are all located on South Conduit Avenue, roughly three miles north-east of the airport.

You will find Smartpark JFK, JFK Long Term Parking, and Park Plus Airport Parking where Belt Parkway meets the JFK Expressway, which is also three miles away.

JFK Park and Go is on 130th Street in Queens, near the Jamaica Hospital Medical Centre. This is the furthest lot from the airport, five miles north.

Historical JFK

Historical JFKJohn F. Kennedy International Airport was first opened in 1948, intended to ease the flow of passengers at LaGuardia Airport some 10 miles away. Its original proposed name was Idlewild Airport, as it was built on the grounds of the Idlewild Beach Golf Course.

Officially titled ‘New York International Airport’, the airport was popularly known as ‘Idlewild’ and the first airline flight left on July 1 1948. After the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, it was renamed in his honor and the name has stuck ever since.
