Cruise-Port Airport Parking: FLL, MCO, MIA & More
By ParkON Team | Last updated: April 2026
Cruise travel is one of the few cases where leaving your car at an airport for 7–14 days is normal — and that long stay makes parking choice a much bigger deal than for a typical flight trip. Most major U.S. cruise ports sit close to a major airport: Port Everglades is minutes from FLL, Port Canaveral is about 45 minutes from MCO, PortMiami is minutes from MIA, and the Manhattan and Brooklyn cruise terminals are short drives from EWR and JFK. This guide walks through the best parking strategy for each combo, including which off-airport lots also shuttle to the cruise terminal, and how to avoid common cruise-traveler parking mistakes. When you're ready to book, ParkON lets you compare lots and pre-book at your airport.

Why Cruise Travelers Need Different Parking
A typical airport-parking customer leaves the car for 2–5 days. A cruise traveler often leaves it for 7, 10, or 14 days — sometimes longer for a back-to-back sailing. That multiplies the impact of every per-day decision:
- Cost compounds. A few dollars per day saved on the daily rate adds up meaningfully over 7–14 days. Off-airport lots often save 40–60% over on-airport rates — that gap compounds across a long stay.
- Security matters more. Two weeks is a long time to leave a car. Look for lots with 24/7 staff, fencing, CCTV, and well-lit areas. See our Extended-Stay Parking Guide for the full feature checklist.
- Logistics differ. If your itinerary is fly-then-cruise, the lot needs to coordinate with both the airport and the cruise port. Some off-airport lots shuttle to both; some only shuttle to the airport.
- Return-day timing is tight. Cruises disembark in the morning, and many travelers fly out the same day. Shuttle wait times on disembarkation day can be longer than usual.
FLL Airport & Port Everglades
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) is the closest major airport to Port Everglades — one of the busiest cruise ports in the world — with the port roughly 5 miles from the airport. This is the easiest fly-cruise combo in the U.S.
Parking Strategy at FLL
- Off-airport lot near FLL with cruise shuttle. Several FLL-area lots shuttle to both the airport and Port Everglades. Confirm the cruise shuttle is included before booking, and check the return-pickup process so you're not stuck at the port.
- FLL on-airport long-term. Convenient but priced for daily airport travelers, not week-long cruise stays. Costs add up.
- Port Everglades on-site parking. Closest to the ship but priced at cruise rates — usually the most expensive option.

MCO Airport & Port Canaveral
Orlando International (MCO) is about 45 miles from Port Canaveral, the second-busiest cruise port in the world and home to many Disney, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival sailings. Many cruise lines run their own dedicated bus transfer between MCO and Port Canaveral, which affects the parking decision.
Parking Strategy at MCO
- Off-airport lot near MCO. Park, take the lot's shuttle to MCO, then take the cruise line's bus transfer to Port Canaveral — reverse on return. Saves on parking and lets the cruise line handle the long ground transfer.
- MCO on-airport parking. Same path as off-airport, but at higher daily rates. Convenient if your trip is shorter or you want zero shuttle.
- Port Canaveral parking. If you're driving the whole way (no flight involved), the port has its own lots — typically not relevant if you're flying in.

MIA Airport & PortMiami
Miami International (MIA) sits about 8 miles from PortMiami — another of the world's largest cruise ports, with major Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, and Norwegian operations. The short distance makes a fly-cruise itinerary easy.
Parking Strategy at MIA
- Off-airport lot near MIA. Best per-day cost for week-long stays. Some lots also shuttle to PortMiami; many don't — rideshare from MIA-area lot to PortMiami is also a common pattern.
- MIA on-airport long-term. Available; costs more per day than off-airport.
- PortMiami on-site parking. Closest to the ship but the most expensive per-day option for a multi-day cruise.

EWR Airport & NYC Cruise Terminals
For Northeast cruises, Newark Liberty International (EWR) is the most accessible major airport for the Manhattan Cruise Terminal (about 12 miles), the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (about 14 miles), and Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, NJ (about 5 miles — the closest by far). JFK and LGA are also options but typically less convenient for the New Jersey port.
Parking Strategy at EWR
- Off-airport lot near EWR for Cape Liberty cruises. EWR-area lots are the cheapest practical option for Cape Liberty sailings and an easy cab/rideshare from the lot to the port.
- For Manhattan or Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Park at EWR off-airport, rideshare into the city. The combined cost can still beat city or port-side parking.
- EWR on-airport long-term. Convenient; priced at airport long-term rates.
See our EWR Airport Parking Guide and EWR Long-Term Parking for details, or search EWR parking on ParkON.
Booking Tips for Cruise + Flight Combos
- Book parking right after you book the cruise. Cruise departure and return dates are fixed and inflexible — lock in parking once your dates are set.
- Match your reservation exactly to your dates. Most lots bill by the day with a 1–2 hour grace period. A 9-day cruise that returns at noon needs to cover 9 days, not 8.
- Confirm the cruise-shuttle option if needed. Not every off-airport lot runs shuttles to the cruise terminal — many only shuttle to the airport. Check before booking and ask about return-pickup logistics from the port.
- Coordinate with cruise-line transfers. If you're using the cruise line's airport-to-port bus, your lot only needs to shuttle you to the airport. That's the more common setup and gives you the widest lot choice.
- Consider a hotel-stay night. Many cruise travelers fly in the day before and stay overnight near the airport. Parking-and-stay packages at airport hotels can bundle the room with multi-day parking.
Long-Stay Parking for Cruises
A cruise stay is essentially extended-stay airport parking. The same prep applies as for any multi-week trip:
- Fill the tank before you leave; check tire pressure.
- Remove valuables from sight; lock the trunk.
- Disable battery-draining features (dashcam, Sentry Mode, etc.).
- Save the lot's phone number to your phone in case of itinerary changes.
- Photograph your parking spot or row for easy navigation on return.
See our Extended-Stay Airport Parking Guide for the full multi-week prep checklist, security feature comparison, and trip-extension handling.
